Tao Xiao Tao was the true heiress, but a malicious midwife switched her at birth, leaving her to suffer in the countryside for five years.
At long last, her identity was discovered, and a powerful family from the capital traveled a thousand miles to claim her. But her aunt turned around and buried her alive, letting her own daughter take Tao Xiao Tao's place and enjoy a life of luxury.
As Tao Xiao Tao waited to die beneath a mound of earth, the young heir of Prince Yong's household dug her out.
The entire household, which had been longing desperately for a daughter, cheered in unison: “At last, we've got a little girl in the family!”
From then on, Tao Xiao Tao, whose life had been miserable, finally found a loving home. Everyone in the capital competed to spoil her.
With a haughty look, Tao Xiao Tao puffed out her little chest and proudly declared, “Tao Tao is the most adored kid in the whole capital!”
