During the Great Qing Dynasty, Beihai Commandery had an incorruptible official.
His surname was Yu, and his given name was Sizheng. He was brimming with a sense of justice, quick-witted, cheerful, and down-to-earth. He solved cases efficiently and never chose to lie flat. People of his time all called him “Yu the Just.”
Yu Sizheng himself loved the job. He always washed and dressed before dawn, then went straight to the magistrate’s office to hear cases without even eating breakfast.
With a stern expression and one hand on his jade pendant, he would shout excitedly, “Let the baffling cases come on even stronger!”
