The Great Exam Battle

The Great Exam Battle Background: In 2020, a sudden pandemic swept across the globe, bringing enormous disruption and change to every aspect of society. Against this extraordinary backdrop, education faced unprecedented challenges, especially for students preparing to take the gaokao. The story follows the high school seniors of Jinhe County, who were already at a crucial point in their preparations when the outbreak upended their studies and daily lives. Some grew estranged from parents working far from home, straining family relationships. Some had fathers so absorbed in gaming that they neglected their children’s education and growth. Some dreamed of pursuing an arts entrance exam, only to face fierce opposition from their mothers. And some students from poor families lacked the resources for online classes, forcing them to walk several kilometers down the mountain every day to attend lessons. Yet none of these hardships could defeat them. When the pandemic was brought under initial control, the students returned to school full of hope and threw themselves into preparing for the gaokao. Then an unexpected flood struck, forcing the county to suspend the exam once again. People from all walks of life came to their aid, and the local education system did everything it could to support them. In the end, through everyone’s combined efforts, all the students overcame countless difficulties and took the gaokao as scheduled. In their struggle against the pandemic and the floods, the students of Jinhe County not only proved themselves academically, but also showed resilience, courage, and a sense of responsibility in this great test faced by society as a whole. Their actions proved how much they had grown, and gave society an answer it could be proud of.
