The Holy Maiden of Miaojiang

My younger sister and I are both descendants of the Miao people.

On the day of the Holy Maiden selection, my sister pushed me into the pool of poisonous Gu insects.

She thought I would surely die, but I survived and became the Holy Maiden of the empire.

My sister, meanwhile, was charged with harming the Holy Maiden and locked in a dungeon.

Unwilling to accept this, she killed me in a fit of hatred and was reborn along with me.

This time, she jumped into the pool first.

“Big sister, I’d make a much better Holy Maiden.”

She didn’t know how terrifying that pool was.

She didn’t even know what being the Holy Maiden really meant.

It meant being no more than the emperor’s pet bird in a gilded cage.
