Old Zhu, If We're Brothers, Come Chop Me!

Zhang Hanling, nearing thirty, sets off on a hiking trip with his backpack on, wearing clothes from the eleventh year of Hongwu. He suddenly appears out of nowhere right in front of Zhu Yuanzhang. Once he figures out what is going on, Zhang Hanling drops to his knees and says, “Old Zhu, if we’re brothers, come chop my head off!”

The moment he thinks about living in ancient times, Zhang Hanling feels like life is no longer worth living. There aren’t nearly as many cuisines as there are in the modern world, and even the fruit doesn’t include tropical varieties. Not to mention that people wipe themselves with bamboo toilet slips, there’s no heating when it gets cold, and even a common cold could easily kill you.

Zhang Hanling declares, “I want to go back to the modern world. Modern people just can’t adapt to life in ancient times! If I really can’t go back, then hurry up and kill me so I can reincarnate into the modern world!”
