You Are Part of My City of Time

Has there ever been a moment when someone suddenly crossed your mind?

And then their voice, their face, even the bright smile that once lit up their features, all came back to you? Bringing with them memories of the past, fragmented and fleeting, drifting away on the wind?

Some people have, in the end, moved far away.

Still, once they have existed, they are not so easily erased.

Everyone who has ever passed through our lives, whether they remain by our side or not, becomes part of the city of time we share.

Even if some things remain unspoken, buried by the years,

even if some events are as fleeting as smoke, fading into the wind,

the sands of time will never erase them.

Back then, we were so foolish. We knew there was no chance, yet still begged to stay by her side. We knew we had fallen out, yet still hoped our number would remain in her contacts.

Back then, we were so foolish. Our relationship had no future, yet we naively clung to a fantasy. With earphones in, we stayed up all night listening to love songs and crying, always turning the volume all the way up.

Hatred has a thousand causes, but love offers not the slightest explanation.

The mountain had no worries, but the snow turned its head white; the water had no sorrow, but the wind stirred ripples across its surface.

Countless things from the past, tangled with fate, leave us hesitant;

You say your lovely face will stay forever, yet before the mirror it withers like a faded flower.

Spring and autumn have turned countless times, and in the end, our paths diverge;

The world rises and falls through all its vicissitudes, until at last we weep before the grave.

Who rules these lonely mountains and rivers? Looking back, the sky is clear and dusk settles over the fields.
