To secure a glittering career in the government, Xie Mingyi’s father married her off to the ailing heir of a marquis’s household. Her younger sister, meanwhile, was married to the son of one of his father’s classmates, a fine-looking man whose temperament suited hers perfectly.
Completely disillusioned, she entered the wealthy household with a generous dowry. Faced with a manor full of demons and monsters, Xie Mingyi chose to play dumb and wait for her chance.
When her sister-in-law mocked and sneered at her, she answered sincerely;
when her mother-in-law spoke in veiled hints, she acted as if she hadn’t heard a thing;
when the arrogant concubine flaunted herself and made digs at her, she stayed silent.
Xie Mingyi planned to play the pig to eat the tiger, seize control of the marquis’s household when the opportunity arose, adopt an heir, and spend the rest of her life in style as its matriarch. But then she discovered that her seemingly innocent and naive husband was actually a wolf in rabbit’s clothing.
This is the only romance novel I have read that has nothing to do with love. The hero and heroine are both clear-minded people. The story is wonderful and worth reading.
I didn't expect that the male and female protagonists parted ways in the end. The bad guys finally brought it upon themselves. I like reading short stories. It's not bad.
