My Five-Year Self-Report

It has been five years since I graduated from college. Some people have successful careers and stable jobs. Some people are living and working in peace and contentment with children. There are also people who, like me, live their lives in a mess. This is not a comparison of misery. In fact, there are many people who have a much harder life than me. I am just one of many low-level workers in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. I live in a rented house in a village in the city, leading an ordinary and wandering life. Every night I stay in the rented house, I am eroded by loneliness and hopelessness. I need to find a way to divert my attention to avoid depression caused by wandering thoughts. So I hit the keyboard and wrote down all my experiences in the five years since I graduated. My writing is not good, and my memory is not good either. I reluctantly relied on my memory to record all the big and small events I experienced in the past five years. It was purely for my own entertainment and killing time. It was a summary of the past. I didn't plan to share it. Later, I felt that I had written it all, so I will share it. I can't remember so many things, and I don't want to write so fast. I have to rely on narrating these fragmentary experiences to pass the time. One section every night is enough. The emotion of each section depends on my mood that day. Some are heavy and some are light. It's just a running account of several years, which is not enough to be called an article. It doesn't have the ups and downs and fascinating plot of Internet articles, and it doesn't have any excitement, so just read it if you can.
