I went home for the New Year hoping to relax a little. I never expected a bunch of awful relatives to come stay with us and make snide remarks about my mom behind her back. Other people go home for the New Year to visit relatives, enjoy delicious food, and collect lucky money. I went home to clean up after troublesome relatives and outsmart their bratty kids. The daughter of Old Zhang next door was so impressed by my quick thinking that she fell for me, bell-bottoms and all, and asked me to set off fireworks with her on New Year's Eve. What a busy New Year I had!
