[Before returning to the capital: a dramatic, attention-loving female coroner vs. a scheming, proud former heir, with cozy daily life, business, mystery-solving, and farming]
[After returning to the capital: a cold, aloof mother vs. a deranged, calculating minister, with revenge, a groveling ex-husband, and coercive love]
Gu Jiao transmigrates into a book just as her original self is caught trying to elope. She starts off with a bowl of poison and barely manages to save her own life. She thinks she’ll have to keep her head down and survive, but then her villainous husband suddenly turns into a proud little puppy, helping her get rich in public and supporting her bid for a stable government job at the local yamen in private.
Get rich, rise through the ranks, have a baby…
Then disaster strikes, and a divorce agreement arrives in her hands. Only then does she realize she was nothing more than a pawn.
Three years later, Gu Jiao takes another woman’s place as a candidate to become the Sixth Prince’s consort. She vows to kill her enemy and stir up trouble in the capital…
But who would have thought her scumbag ex-husband would suddenly change his ways…
--
Zhao Muzhi pins the woman against the bed, his voice hoarse and his expression aggrieved.
“You’re alive. Why didn’t you come find me?”
“I’m married with a child. Are you trying to be a homewrecker?!”
“Doesn’t matter. Tomorrow I’ll kill that man surnamed Jiang and bring you and your daughter into my manor.”
“…”
Gu Jiao is furious. There’s no reasoning with a lunatic.
A few things to note:
1. This is a fictional setting, so please don’t nitpick the history.
2. There’s not much face-slapping. The mystery-solving is there to move the plot along.
Why is there no rating for such a good-looking novel? I give it a five-star rating. The author is so good. Yes, you shouldn't be with someone surnamed Zhao. If you don't cherish the opportunity given, you have no fate. This is the reason. Every character is well portrayed, and the plot logic is also in place. I don't see many novels with such quality on Tomato. I give you a lot of support for the author.
It's fun to watch, and the heroine's character is very close to my heart.
Not together, sad
Very nice book, keep it up
The closer you get to the back, the better it looks.
It's a bit sadistic but good-looking, with clear logic. There is no brainless romance in the book, and the author could do more.
The sad story behind made me burst into tears when I read it. The heroine's parents died miserably. That so-called brother killed his family.
The ending is thought-provoking, okay, okay
