The Serpent King’s Gratitude

They say animals can't become spirits after the founding of the nation, and that people should believe in science. That is, until a torrential rain flooded the city...

The rain fell for half a month straight. The river swelled, the city flooded, and Feng Yiyi was trapped at home for ten days until her food ran out. As soon as the rain stopped, she went out to buy supplies. On her way home, she rescued someone. Little did she know that one kind act would let a snake into her home, and from then on she couldn't get rid of him and had to wait on him hand and foot...

“Snake King, are you hungry? What would you like to eat? Chicken? Duck? Or pork?”

“Anything is fine.”

“Okay, just a moment.”

There was half a chicken left in the fridge. She took it out, washed it, chopped it up, arranged it on a plate, and served it. “Snake King, please enjoy!”

The Snake King stared in silence at the plate of bloody raw meat for a long moment. “Maybe you could make me a bowl of noodles instead.”

“Huh? You... you eat noodles too?”

“I eat noodles, and I eat meat, but I don't eat it raw...”
