China Through the Classics: Sages and Scholars

A feast of culture across the long river of history: thought and art, passed down through generations. Chinese culture cannot be separated from the Hundred Schools of Thought and their various intellectual traditions. It lives in music, calligraphy, painting, poetry, and prose, hidden between the lines and rooted in the hearts of the Chinese people, subtly shaping their ways of thinking and behaving. Historical texts throughout the ages have placed great importance on recording the sages, their ideas, and their art. These records form the foundation of Chinese culture today, and will be passed down to future generations.
