The cat spirit Huali is attacked while stealing a sacred relic, knocked back into her original form, and transmigrates to the modern world. To survive, she throws tantrums, rolls around, and acts cute in hopes of being adopted. There she meets He Mo, a burned-out office worker and a failure at the Daoist sect, and the two begin a journey of healing one another.
