The first time Lin Qiulu meets the most generous donor the orphanage has ever had, the man says, “The charity money is all my son’s pocket money. He said to give the other kids the books he couldn’t understand, and let them have a chance at the perfect scores he can’t get. He’s so stupid.”
Later, Director Chen brings him home. When Lin Qiulu meets Chen Ximing for the first time, he thinks, “Oh, so this is the smartest, cutest child in the world.”
