Gu Xuanxiao cleaved open the Gate to Heaven with a single sword stroke and ascended to immortality, only to find himself one of a hundred thousand Heavenly Soldiers, sent to subdue the Monkey King?
Before they could even make a move, he nearly got flattened by the monkey's staff.
At the critical moment, he bound himself to the Great Merit System and gained the divine skill “Light-Fingered Hands.” To his amazement, he even swiped the monkey's Sea-Calming Divine Pearl!
“The Great Merit System: Do good deeds to earn merit. Merit can be used for draws, and draws make you stronger...”
“Let that fairy go! I want to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation myself!”
“Sorry, I just want to be a low-key good person.”
Among the corpses of powerful demons and fiends scattered across the ground, Gu Xuanxiao carefully picked up a tiny puppy trembling with fear.
“Ding-dong! Good deed of the day: Task to rescue the sacred beast Qilin complete. One merit point awarded!”
“Wait, Master Empress! This Qilin isn't for eating. Put down the pot!”
“After rescuing the Qilin for the tenth time, this stingy System only gave me one merit point. Looks like I'll have to save the world to earn any more!”
