Villain: I Got a Wife for Free from the Start

[Fictional content, set in an alternate world] [System] [One heroine] [Political intrigue later on] [Monsters] [Light comedy] [Leans toward everyday life]

Mu Jingci never expected an ordinary young man like him to catch the transmigration trend. This lifelong bachelor even got a wife thrown in for free.

He also became bound to a villain System.

It forces him to play the villain and oppose the male lead, who is thousands of miles away.

Poor him, a perfectly decent young man of the modern age, forced to become a villain like this. Isn't that asking too much? (He's struggling to keep the grin off his face.)

But why does everything seem to be getting stranger? His wife turns out to be the girl from high school who used to follow him around like a shadow, and she transmigrated here with him. And if he's the villain, why is he getting the same treatment as the protagonist, with people constantly picking fights with him and trying to kill him?

It seems someone doesn't want him to make it to the imperial capital alive...

Mu Jingci asked, “If one day I rise to a high position, but then get you killed because I'm greedy for power, what would you do?”

Tang Yao: “...If I'm already dead, what is there left to do?”

Mu Jingci continued, “Then let's try another one. What if I rise to a high position and bring you up to the same level, but die before you do? What would you do?”

Tang Yao considered this. “Become a widow?”

Mu Jingci thought that seemed reasonable enough. “Then what if I accomplish nothing and retire to the mountains, where all you get each day is plain food? What would you do?”

Tang Yao looked puzzled. “Were you rich back in Shanyang Village?”

Mu Jingci: Damn.
