The appearance of Void Gates sent forth monsters that nearly shattered the world.
Not long afterward, someone discovered that when girls aged 10 to 20 touched a Void Gate, they had a chance of gaining "superpowers" and becoming "Magical Girls."
And so, a wave of Magical Girls swept across the world.
From then on, anyone who turned 16 had the chance to touch a Void Gate...
But... not everyone wanted to.
Being a Magical Girl was a high-risk profession. Not everyone did it in the name of dreams and hope, or in the name of miracles, or anything like that.
Not everyone...
The year 3025 was known as the Magical Era.
In 3035, the Magical Era finally found salvation.
The turning point was the battle in Yongye City.
That day, a Void Gate opened without warning... A Monarch-class magical beast, accompanied by four King-class monsters, charged into the crowd and slaughtered people indiscriminately before the air-raid sirens could even sound. With the situation critical, headquarters urgently dispatched 15 Magical Girls.
Three quasi-A-class Magical Girls and twelve B-class Magical Girls fought in the Battle of Yongye. Three were killed, ten were gravely wounded, and the remaining two suffered minor injuries.
But after that battle, Void Gates never appeared inside the city again. People gradually forgot that war, until...
