All for the Stars

“The boy beneath the kapok tree shines as brightly as ever, like a river of stars in a desert summer night. He can be the subject of my poetry, but I can never be the dream in his.”

“I have a secret, and the long nights beyond my window know it. I’m terrified you’ll find out, yet I’m also afraid you won’t.”

On the night the college entrance exams ended, Su Xingye faced the toughest choice of her eighteen years: faced with a dazzling array of hair accessories, she couldn’t decide between a headband, hair clips, and a hairpin. Shen Yi urged her from the other end of the phone, “Aye, can you hurry up? Everyone’s waiting at the karaoke place. You’re the only one missing! I heard Gu Huai is going to confess to Zhinian tonight...”

Before Shen Yi could finish, Su Xingye hung up. Looking at the hair accessories in her hand, a barely noticeable smile spread across her face. “Forget it, I’ll buy them all. I think she’d look good in any of them!”

(A tooth-rottingly sweet story. It absolutely has a happy ending.)
