The story follows the heroine, Xia Qiqi, who falls in love with her classmate Xu Yihang while they are at university. They are deeply devoted to each other, but fate has other plans. Just before graduation, Xu Yihang and Xia Qiqi are on their way to the countryside for an outing when they are in a car accident. Xu Yihang is thrown from the car while protecting Xia Qiqi, and dies despite efforts to save him. Afterward, Xia Qiqi is consumed by guilt and cannot pull herself out of it. Cheng Jun, an emergency room doctor who has loved her quietly for years, takes it upon himself to care for her, healing her wounded heart bit by bit with his selfless love.
