The Road Home After the Flood

Five-star praise, love it! "Homeward Bound" is set against the background of Pai Gang and tells the story of the tempering and transformation of the cowardly young boy Lao Si in the face of floods, banditry and alien conflicts. The author outlines the sinister nature and human nature with a cold and stern brushwork. The narrative rhythm is compact and the plot is full of tension. The story begins with the "Dragon King's Wrath" flood as a trigger, pushing the fourth child to the edge of life and death. Falling into the desperate situation of Guimen Gorge to survive, being tortured by cutting off his nose in Qiang Village, burning, killing and looting by soldiers and bandits, the progressive crises forced him to grow up rapidly. The transformation of Lao Si did not happen overnight, but gradually emerged through specific events - from passive escape to active counterattack, and finally became a leader. The rescue of Qiu Mei, a Qiang girl, and the assistance of Dahuang Dahei, a hound, not only enrich the relationship between the characters, but also enhance the reality of the story. The work combines national customs and survival adventure, with both the rural flavor of "Border Town" and the cruel survival rules of "The Revenant". The fourth child's journey home is not only a geographical journey, but also a spiritual coming-of-age ceremony. At the end, he kneels down to worship his ancestors' graves, which makes the narrative form a closed loop and has a long aftertaste. Overall, "Homeward Bound" is a coming-of-age novel full of wild vitality, with an ups and downs plot and vivid characters, making it worth reading. When I read it for the second time, I felt more clearly that "The Road Home After the Flood" is essentially a miniature folk epic. The journey of the fourth child coincides with the traditional heroic narrative structure of "suffering-awakening-return", but the author injects a rough realism texture into it. The folk torture of cutting off the nose in Qiang Village and the bloody scenes of village massacre by soldiers and bandits all reveal the law of survival of "the weak and the strong" in troubled times. But the real genius in the book is the character of Qiu Mei - she is both the savior of Lao Si and a symbol of the collision between Qiang and Han cultures. When the hound Rhubarb died to protect his owner, the brilliance of humanity shown by the animals was in sharp contrast to the atrocities of humans. This dialectical thinking about civilization and barbarism makes the work far beyond ordinary adventure novels, showing the philosophical depth of "The Old Man and the Sea".

I read this book on the recommendation of Ah Feng. The story describes the son of Pai Wang, Lao Si, who has a weak personality. When he was about to turn 18, he went to Pai Pai for the first time and encountered the "Dragon King's Wrath" flood, which was rare in decades. In order to save his friend Xiao Shun, he fell into the Guimen Gorge. After a difficult self-rescue, Lao Si succeeded and embarked on the long journey home. The author writes a compact story with a touching plot!

The delicate description is like a farming novel, which makes people feel comfortable. The peaceful plot depicted in the work makes people yearn for it. As an unpopular occupation, the author describes the rafting industry vividly. The characters and scenes written by the author are fascinating, and all the scenes described make people feel the charm of them. The author is really great and the work is very charming. 🥰🥰[Admiration]

The author has a very good grasp and understanding of the period works, and the overall story is very smooth to read. The character of the fourth child is very solid, and the character description shows that the author has a good foundation. The language, expressions and behaviors of other characters can also stand up to scrutiny, and the simple emotions are also yearning. I look forward to the author's subsequent wonderful performances.

This novel made me understand the business of arranging workers. Although it is not as legendary as the one the author is serializing, it is very sincere!

This is a very interesting chronology, telling the story of the world before and after the great flood. Well written and sincere
