A love that crosses time and space + a Republic-era starlet and a young warlord + past and present lives
During an archaeological dig, thirty-year-old archaeology PhD Wan Xian unearths an old photograph from the Republic era. After a car accident, she transmigrates back to 1930 and becomes Lin Moli, a twenty-year-old starlet at the height of her fame. To adapt and survive, she goes from a social recluse to a social butterfly. By day, she is a star in the glittering metropolis; in secret, she makes films to spread patriotism and joins the revolutionary cause. In the end, she is swept into the dark currents of history. When the nation and its people face a fight for survival, she travels to the battlefield and fights alongside Jiang Wenzhou, the young major general to whom she was betrothed as a child. Later, the two are separated by the war.
Back in the modern era, Wan Xian searches historical records again and again. At last, she finds his name in the records of that battle: Major General Jiang Wenzhou, who died at Cangshan in the same city at the age of twenty-nine.
After experts restore the old photograph from the Republic era, the faces of the two people in it become clear. The young woman is Wan Xian, and the man beside her is Jiang Wenzhou.
1937, Republic of China. Jiang Wenzhou, I'll wait for you in Huacheng.
My wife, Yinyuan, promise me that if I'm gone, you'll still eat well, sleep well, and live your life to the fullest.
Very nice, this is a new story.
It's good to watch. After following a few chapters, the plot is fast-paced and not draggy. Nine times out of ten love stories in the Republic of China are sad. I feel that this one is something that transcends the times.
