Drifting Down the Warm Creek by Boat

Xia Jiwei loomed before Xia Jingyuan like a mountain, his authority impossible to defy.

“I have two important things to tell you. The company is sending you to Shanghai on a business trip. When you get back, we'll arrange your marriage to Lu Man.”

His stern father's words left Xia Jingyuan stunned and bewildered. He couldn't accept this earth-shattering “important matter” at all. The word “defiance” might as well have been written all over his face.

“I understand the business trip, but I can't marry Lu Man!”

Xia Jiwei was so furious that he slammed his chopsticks down on the table.

“You two were betrothed as children! Lu Man is your wife-to-be!”

“Dad, I've always thought of Lu Man as a little sister. Besides... besides, there's someone I like.”

“You already have a fiancée, and you're still chasing after other women? Don't you know how good Lu Man has been to you all these years?”

“Honestly, how much longer do you expect an innocent young woman to wait for you?”
