The Tale of an Ordinary Man at the End of the World

(No special abilities + no saintly heroine + no pocket dimension + no rebirth + no stockpiling supplies in advance) A realistic zombie apocalypse novel about surviving in a world gone to ruin. It tells the story of a group of people struggling to survive. They must face not only the harsh conditions left by devastating wars, but also the ugliness and evil in human nature, betrayal by those they trust most, and the struggle to carry on. The novel follows the protagonist as he rises from a nobody to a powerful leader in the apocalypse. He is decisive and ruthless, and doesn’t keep dead weight around. When the end comes and order collapses, and human desire is no longer held in check by the law, with the shackles on people’s inner beasts gone, are we still human?
