My Mother, Jin Xiang

Every day, the mother, Jinxiang, works tirelessly in the fields, hoping to improve her family’s life through her own hard work and not burden her children. Her two children try to persuade her again and again, but to no avail. The villagers say Jinxiang is a real workhorse. Day after day, the labor wears her down. After a hip replacement operation leaves her at death’s door, her children return from far away to care for her once again. Even her attending physician advises them to take her home and prepare for the end. But with her children’s devoted care, their mother summons her indomitable will and overcomes her illness.
