The boy stared blankly at the girl at the next desk for an entire class. The girl seemed to sense his gaze and turned around, a gentle smile on her face. Shyly, she asked, “What are you looking at, Kosei-kun?”

The boy returned her gentle smile. “Of course I’m looking at our adorable Shoko~”

“But this is the path I chose. It’s because there are people and things I want to protect that I hold on to the warmest hope and keep moving forward with unwavering resolve, guided by the light and all the love in my heart! I’ll protect this hard-won happiness!”

“The world repaid her with sorrow, but she repaid the world with kindness. And I swear I’ll become the warrior who protects her beautiful smile!”
