Severing Worldly Ties, Tying the Red Thread

Have you ever loved someone?

Meng Yao replied, “I have.”

How did it feel?

Meng Yao said coldly, “Love is like a disaster. It looks like a raging storm, but leaves not a blade of grass behind.”

Have you ever hated someone?

Ning Shang replied, “Never.”

Why not?

Ning Shang smiled. “How could I hate the one I love most?”

“To hate you, I would sever every bond of affection in this world. To love you, I would bind myself to every thread of love under heaven.”

Everyone knows that the heir to the Ning Marquisate is a sickly, frail man, powerless and not long for this world.

But Princess Meng Yao begs to differ, because...

Have you ever seen a sickly man bravely take on a hundred foes alone?

Have you ever seen a powerless man face an enemy at the gates with unstoppable force?

Everyone says Princess Meng Yao is a woman who can hold her own against any man, sing and dance beautifully, and lead troops into battle.

Ning Shang doesn't agree, because...

Have you ever seen a heroine cry until she looks like a little kitten?

Have you ever seen a graceful dancer practice the Stunning Swan Dance as if it were a plum-blossom training post?
