Widowed, Now the Whole World Wants Me to Start a Rebellion

[Sharp-Tongued and Fearless] [Ambitious Female Lead] [Nation-Building and Infrastructure]

Yun Ningzhi transmigrates into the role of a long princess, abandoned by the imperial family and married off to a distant land.

The good news: Her husband is richer than the nation and commands a powerful army.

The better news: He's dead.

All Yun Ningzhi inherits is a cold, empty mansion and countless treasures.

Yun Ningzhi clasps her hands together. "Thank you, dear husband, for the generous bequest."

But as they say, nothing in life comes for free. Her fief is poor in people, poor in land, and poor in everything else, while her husband's soldiers refuse to obey her.

Looking at her storm-tossed fief, Yun Ningzhi feels her rebellious streak kick in.

Build infrastructure! Train the troops! Conquer the realm!

Emperor Yun hears that Runan is so prosperous it looks like a paradise on earth. So many nobles from the capital flee there that even his own sons refuse to come back at any cost. Curious, Emperor Yun goes there himself, and his face darkens.

Emperor Yun: How about I let you be emperor instead?

Before returning to the imperial city, the ministers all believe that she wields too much power and is fiercely ambitious, and that she'll surely rebel one day.

Emperor Yun spreads his hands. "I can't control her. Why don't you try?"

After Yun Ningzhi returns to the imperial city, everyone is beaten into submission by her slaps. They can only cover their sore cheeks and complain, "But once you take the throne, you won't hit me anymore, right?"

Later, when the battle for the throne throws the entire imperial city into chaos, Yun Ningzhi remains as carefree as ever, while the emperor and the ministers live in constant fear almost every day.

At their wits' end, they hint tactfully, "Why don't you just rebel?"

Xie Wuwang is Yun Ningzhi's husband, who supposedly died young. Disguised as a guard, he stays by her side without ever revealing his identity.

Until someone tries to seduce Yun Ningzhi.

Xie Wuwang: You're supposed to be dead, you know!
