After Winning Her Over, My Love-Brain Finally Got Fixed

On Tomb-Sweeping Day, my wife’s first love and I were kidnapped at the same time. The kidnappers demanded twenty million from my wife, ten million for each of us. I knew our total cash savings amounted to only ten million, so I thought she’d pay the ransom right away to get me out. To my surprise, she used the money to save her first love. Then she called the police. The enraged kidnappers tortured me for three days, leaving not a single patch of uninjured skin. I barely escaped with my life and asked, “Why didn’t you use the ransom money to save me?” “I thought you were joking. How was I supposed to know this would actually happen?”
