[Two male leads + campus romance + sweet and angsty]
“I know I will die someday, but before I do, I'll still want to hold my moon.”
Socially anxious boy with bipolar disorder × aloof, gentle boy
The influence of his family made Ming Shun sensitive and full of inner conflict. He always thought things through: when buying something, he considered the price; when doing something, he weighed how difficult it would be and what society would think; when he liked someone, he considered whether the feeling was exclusive, lasting, and emotional. But when it came to liking Yun Xiu, he only considered two things: being the only one and lasting forever. Yun Xiu, on the other hand, had never wanted for food or clothing, and his parents had always doted on him.
But the year Yun Xiu was about to start his third year of high school, his father had an affair. Yun Xiu then followed his mother, Li Qing, back to her family home in Zhao'an, a small county in Zhangzhou. It was there that his story with Xu Mingshun began.
Their final year of high school felt long, but not too long; fast, but not too fast. The endless sea of practice questions seemed to stretch on forever. So did Xu Mingshun's frequent nightmares, from which his illness kept him from waking. So did the time it took for the scars on his left wrist to heal. But the sunsets they watched side by side in their spare time disappeared too quickly. The countdown on the blackboard kept changing too quickly. And the time until they each set off for college came too quickly.
Ming Shun thought Yun Xiu had rescued him from the depths of his illness time and again, while Yun Xiu felt that Ming Shun had warmed his barren years.
Tips: 1. I wrote this in fits and starts during my final year of high school and in whatever free time I've had since. Some parts later on may read like a diary. It's also a clean romance, but it feels true to life. Please read with care if that's not your thing.
2. BL, happy ending.
3. A coming-of-age story set in high school.
