A Show About Pretending to Be a Cultivator, with a Real One in the Cast

(This story is entirely fictional and was written by hand without AI.) The protagonist joins a variety show and gains an opportunity to practice Cultivation. This is a world where only martial artists exist, so when the protagonist begins Cultivation, he’s practically invincible. But there’s something unusual about this world: if you’re injured or killed by danger in a dream, it all comes true in reality.

The protagonist is the Heavenly Dao’s Chosen Guide. Legend has it that if the Guide performs a ritual at the summit of Stargazing Mountain, they can gain immense power and save the world. As a female Cultivator undergoes tribulation, she suddenly falls through a temporal turbulence and lands on the Heavenly Dao’s Chosen Guide: the protagonist, Chen Ye. Chosen by the Heavenly Dao, he begins a path of Cultivation in the Age of Declining Dharma. While livestreaming the show, he brings joy to the world and becomes a vital force in resisting the corruption of nightmares.

Chen Ye shows off his powers in all sorts of ways, and the audience thinks the special effects look incredibly real.

Director: “Chen Ye is the entire special effects team. He’s the only member.” The other people on the show can’t figure out how he pulls off those effects, no matter how hard they rack their brains.
