The Chancellor Returns

“What can a flower thief do besides stealing flowers?”

“Of course there are plenty of other things!”

“Such as?”

“For instance... retrieving precious things for clients.”

“What else?”

“...And, well... taking things.”

“Oh. What should you watch out for when taking things?”

“You need to make sure your martial arts are up to scratch! Otherwise, you might get killed in the very first episode!”

“Oh, oh. If your martial arts are only so-so, is there still a chance of getting into this line of work?”

“Then you're just lousy at it!”

“Huh? Right, right. If I'm just a little lousy, do you have any good advice?”

“If you're lousy, train harder! If you want to enter this line of work but can't afford to lose, then be prepared to die.”

“Then how come Baiyin is so lousy at flower thievery and still doing just fine?”

“Are you stupid? Have you even looked at who she's stealing from?”

“The prime minister!”

“Exactly! You blockhead! Would the prime minister let the female thief who steals from him get into trouble?”

This is a tale of love and hate between an inept flower thief and a thoroughly competent prime minister. In that chaotic age, what kind of emotional entanglement could arise between two people who seem destined never to cross paths?
