Lu Yun transmigrates into the body of a core disciple of the inner sect of Xia Yun Sect.
He thinks he is about to reach the pinnacle of cultivation, only to discover that the sect has spent vast resources training its disciples merely to select a cauldron for their Ancestress and help her break through to the next cultivation realm.
After dual cultivation with the Ancestress, Lu Yun earns her favor and saves himself hundreds of years of struggle. Overnight, he gains an immensely senior standing within the sect, and all the elders of its Internal Affairs Pavilion have to show him respect.
But Lu Yun refuses to let the Ancestress keep him under her thumb. He seeks a breakthrough in cultivation, determined to take control of his own fate and future.
