Lingpo is a spirit creature born of heaven and earth, just the way it is from birth. It came into the world at the end of winter and was coaxed into the human world in spring.
Scene One:
Staring at the endless slope of hills behind him, Lingpo sighed deeply. After other creatures taught him the “rules for entering the human world,” he resolutely headed down the mountain.

Scene Two:
Thunder rumbled in the sky as Lingpo egged things on from the balcony.
“You can imagine a cat-and-tiger pairing, so now that our bodies are exactly alike, even down to our biology, how can you call that old-fashioned?”
Then fat raindrops came pouring down. Lingpo was quick enough to escape without getting wet.
Scene Three:
One night, someone was driving home when several huge bolts of lightning suddenly struck nearby.
The stars were out, so the lightning was eerie.
He glanced over and saw the white ball of fluff sleeping soundly in the passenger seat. Suddenly understanding, he stuck his middle finger out the window at the sky, then quickly pulled it back before lightning could strike.
“Stop striking me! I’ll marry into your family!”
He hurriedly ducked his head back inside and drove off. Sparks and lightning followed him all the way home, but he made it back as if nothing had happened.
But that night, this world was still left with two fewer people.
