Kaiyuan Divination

"Kaiyuan Divination" is a voluminous astronomical work with a total of 120 volumes. This book was carefully compiled by Qutan Siddha and brings together the profound discussions on the theory of the universe by many astronomers in ancient China. Among them, the first two volumes mainly include classic documents about the theory of the universe, while volumes three to ninety systematically organize the detailed expositions of ancient masters on the state of celestial bodies, laws of motion and various astronomical phenomena, and also include rich historical information on astrology. It is worth mentioning that "Kaiyuan Zhan Jing" was once lost after the Tang Dynasty. Fortunately, this precious work was rediscovered in the late Ming Dynasty, thus continuing its precious academic inheritance. This work not only preserves a large amount of astronomical, calendar data and latitude books before the Tang Dynasty, but also introduces in detail the basic data of 16 calendars, such as chronology, chapter rates and other key information. In addition, the book also covers many professional terms for objects and astronomical phenomena, fully demonstrating the rich connotation and profound heritage of ancient astronomy.
