Chasing the Wind: Eight Thousand Miles

Zhu Yu, a high school sophomore, is wholly focused on preparing for the IELTS exam so she can apply to the Eastman School of Music. She pushes herself too hard and passes out one night after staying up late to study. When she wakes, she finds herself in Shanghai a hundred years in the past. The People’s Republic of China has not been founded, the country is occupied, and the Kuomintang is still “suppressing the bandits”... After watching The Wind Rises, I cried my eyes out over the bond between Shen Tu’nan and Shen Jinzhen. I couldn’t help thinking how wonderful it would be if someone appeared early enough to help Shen Tu’nan see how corrupt the political situation was and change sides, so the siblings could fight together for a new China. This story was born from that idea.
