Undercover: A Spark in the Dark

[World War II / Anti-Japanese spy thriller / Everyone gets a bad ending / Coercive romance / Unrequited love / Republican-era tragic romance / Revenge / Awakening] [Growing heroine] VS [Military Intelligence agent] Dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Never forget our national humiliation. Our generation must strive to grow strong. In 1939, Su Wanqing returns from studying abroad and falls into an abyss on her very first day in Shanghai. Amid the humiliation, she discovers that her father’s death was no accident: he was murdered for refusing to cooperate with the Japanese. At the same time, her childhood friend Shen Mo is carrying out a mission for Military Intelligence. Undercover at No. 76 as a “traitor,” he maneuvers among the highest ranks of the Japanese invaders. The two reunite in peril. One awakens within a cage, while the other walks on the edge of a blade. As personal vendettas intertwine with duty to their country, Su Wanqing takes up her father’s unfinished struggle in the darkness. Shen Mo, caught between his mission and his feelings, treads carefully, knowing every step could be their last. In this occupied, isolated city, love and hatred, loyalty and betrayal, resistance and repression collide violently. In their own ways, they wage a bloodless war in the heart of enemy territory. (The male lead is Shen Mo! The heroine is unwavering in her convictions. Every disguise and show of weakness is meant to help her take revenge and gather intelligence!)
