The Plain Gauze Zen Robe was a burial garment found on a well-preserved female corpse. After accompanying its owner through a thousand years of darkness, it was finally unearthed one day. After a millennium of cultivation, it took human form by a twist of fate and named itself Sushayi. By cutting her wrist and spending her own threads, Sushayi can glimpse the future and travel freely through time and space. Once she uses them all up, she’ll perish too. Dugu Xin was a general of the Western Wei and Northern Zhou, renowned for his many military achievements and equally skilled in literature and combat. He was one of the ten great beauties of the Wei, Jin, and Northern and Southern Dynasties, and was both brave and resourceful.
Sushayi heard so many stories about history and historical figures from museum guides. Though she had lived through many of those eras, she had been buried in the earth, unable to see daylight. After taking human form, she began cutting her wrist at will to travel through time.
On one trip, she was struck by lightning and fell into the arms of Dugu Xin as he bathed. After she tried the same trick several more times, the lightning seemed to have knocked out her ability. All she had left was the power of foresight.
Still, it wasn’t a bad deal. At least she had a handsome man for company.
Dugu Xin was initially suspicious of Sushayi, who had fallen from the sky, kept cutting her wrist, and still wouldn’t die. Gradually, however, he grew interested in her. They remained entangled for the rest of their lives, until death could part them.
