To fight the Demon Ancestor Luo Hou, Dao Ancestor Hongjun tries to summon the future ruler of the Three Realms to help. Instead, he accidentally brings Wang Huan, a modern-day model young man, back to the Primordial Era.
Fortunately, Wang Huan has read plenty of stories about divine kings from every realm. After helping Hongjun defeat the demons, he is even mistaken by the Dao Ancestor for the destined future Heavenly Emperor. The misunderstanding only keeps growing.
So should he help Haotian, as history originally intended, ascend to the throne of Heavenly Emperor, or reluctantly take the job himself and do something to benefit the Three Realms?
