Synopsis:
Two couples:
Fan Song and Zuo Li, Fan Wangfeng and Zuo Huai'an. Neither couple is the main one, and they get about the same amount of focus.
Zuo Li and Zuo Huai'an are brothers. Little brother Zuo Li dreams of becoming an engineer when he grows up, while big brother Zuo Huai'an dreams of getting rich. He hopes his cooking skills will make him a fortune and take him to the pinnacle of life.
Zuo Huai'an opens a restaurant to serve home-style dishes. Across the street is a produce shop owned by Fan Wangfeng, a tall, handsome, long-legged man who is kind and looks after the Zuo brothers.
Fan Wangfeng has a son named Fan Song. When Fan Song was young, he was much like his father in both looks and personality. They even shared the same standards for a partner: each wanted to marry the prettiest girl around.
Fan Wangfeng achieved that goal, but after their son Fan Song was born, he and the beautiful woman split up. Sixteen years later, after being single all that time, he fell sincerely in love with the plain-looking Zuo Huai'an.
His son Fan Song, meanwhile, continues to hold on to his goal of marrying a pretty girl. He and little brother Zuo Li grow close and become good friends. They bicker and cuddle all the time, and without realizing it, their relationship has long crossed the line of ordinary friendship.
More than once, people they know have reminded Fan Song: “You and Zuo Li are way too close. Are you sure you’re straight?”
Fan Song insists he’s straight, wraps his arms around Zuo Li, and covers his ears. “What did you say? The wind’s too loud, I can’t hear you!”
This is a little story about a father who knows he’s in love, and a son who doesn’t realize he’s in love.
