“Do you know what the stupidest kind of love in the world is?”
Beneath the moonlight, among the reeds, the two sat on a fallen tree.
She swung her feet, stirring the still surface of the lake and sending ripples outward in circles.
“What is it?” She looked up at the moon, her eyes shining, unaware that his were already blurred with tears.
“The love between an assassin and their target.”
The words abruptly froze everything in the world. Even their hearts skipped half a beat.
“What could an assassin and their target possibly feel for each other?” Her feet stopped swinging. Her eyes glinted coldly as she narrowed them slightly. “Did the assassin fall in love with the target? That's pretty stupid.”
“No. The stupidest thing is for the target to fall in love with the assassin.” He made no attempt to hide the love and sorrow in his eyes, baring them without reservation, like a lamb offering its neck to a wolf, gazing at her in silence.
A vast white mist seemed to cover everything. A teardrop fell with a plop into the lake.
The fighting plot in this book is exciting and the characters are real. It is more real and more beautiful than others I have read ^ω^ The author's writing style is really good (//∇//)
