Hyacinth: Based on a True Story

Many people pass through this world quietly and uneventfully. They arrive without a sound and leave just as lightly, hardly leaving a trace behind. Those few who do leave a mark must make outstanding contributions to the world and endure untold hardship to do so. As the lyrics go: “You and I are ordinary people, living in this world. We toil all day and never get a moment’s rest. Since we’re no immortals, we can’t help having our own desires. We set morality aside and put profit first. How many men have flown into a rage for a beauty? How many birds from the same nest have gone their separate ways? Life is so short, why cling so desperately to love? When your beloved is gone, who can you appeal to? Tell me, when have you ever seen this world change for people? If you have the face you’ve dreamed of, does that mean you’ve found your spring?” This is a true reflection of life. As the stars shift and the years turn to gold, the long river of time swallows everything. Before these people and events worth pondering are swept away, I’ll write them down in haste for passersby to consider.
