After a brave act of kindness, Nuo Yun, glowing with golden merit, arrives in an ancient parallel world and gets a chance at a new life.

She also gains the superpower to stop time.

The Shangguan household is warm and harmonious. The young master is gentle as jade, and the young mistress is kind and easygoing. Nuo Yun decides to settle in and enjoy a happy retirement ahead of schedule, taking the occasional time-stopped trip.

Unfortunately, her peaceful life lasts barely two days before an unwelcome visitor arrives. Strong-willed and stunning, he stops at nothing and barges into Nuo Yun's life with a trail of baffling cases.

Living people die tragically before her eyes. One mystery after another tears apart countless families, while unsolved cases go without justice... Step by step, kindhearted Nuo Yun is drawn into it all.

The unstable court, the unfathomable martial world, and the wickedly unpredictable human heart: luckily, whenever Nuo Yun looks back, she can see them there.

Shangguan Bo, smiling as he chats and coaxes information out of people; Tian Yuanxiang, wiping down her coroner's knife; and... him, the one she can't help but rely on.

…

“If one day the dragon-slaying boy becomes the evil dragon, Lord Gu, what would you do?”

“He won't. You won't, and neither will we.”

“Why?”

Because every time you stop time, we can see.

You won't, and we can see that too.
