Reborn in 2009: Building a Smartphone

A programmer digs up a letter he buried in a corner when he was young. It was a joke he wrote to his future descendants, asking them to come pick him up in a time machine. To his surprise, the letter can really cross time and space, letting him correspond with his children twenty years in the future.

Each time he changes the future, his children’s identities change: Li Xinyan, Su Xinghe, Su Lingxiao, Su Nianchen... They come from different timelines, but they all share the same goal: send future technology back to the past. From gene therapy to antimatter energy, from warp drives to the ruins of alien civilizations, human technology surges forward with each new iteration.

The price is that in every timeline, his children are wiped out in the war against a Level Three civilization.

Looking at the letter, Su Chen finally understands: this is not one person’s rise to greatness. It is the entire human civilization using countless timelines to wage a battle for survival, one doomed to end in annihilation and destined to begin again.
