Arknights: Destroyed by Rebirth

[Cthulhu Mythos, heavily altered, Arknights]

(Volumes 1 and 2 are supplementary worldbuilding and serve as a prologue. You can skip to the main story in Volume 3.)

Admolai, a man from the Middle Ages, is burned at the stake for asking a few too many questions, only to transmigrate to 2023, five hundred years in the future. After an introduction from an entity calling itself the Masked Fool, he learns that he is the youngest child of an Outer God, though he has no idea how many generations removed. Admolai transmigrates to the modern era and gains the power of his ancestors. But when the Masked Fool snaps his fingers, he returns to the day he died five hundred years earlier, only to learn that everything he experienced in the future was false. At last, the Masked Fool sends him to Terra to undergo a trial. If he succeeds, he can inherit all the power of his ancestors.
