The Avengers and the X-Men had been completely wiped out by the Red Skull's alliance forty-five years ago. A few survivors, including Hawkeye and Wolverine, chose to lie low and eke out an existence.
Villainous forces now hold total control of the government. People no longer admire or idolize the superheroes of old. Instead, they worship these murderous executioners and maniacs as gods.
Until... Martin looks at the seemingly endless army of supervillains before him and sneers. "If humanity can't save this world, then Superman will do it for them!"
