[Day 1: The sun went out. But people didn’t believe it. They trusted the experts, who said this year’s solar eclipse would simply last longer than usual. Society continued to run on its own momentum.]

[Day 2: Temperatures plummeted, and the weather turned bitterly cold. Some people discovered that supermarkets the government had promised would never close had shut their doors. Others noticed that many celebrities and high-ranking officials had appeared in remote areas, seemingly entering some sort of bunker.]

[Day 3: More people realized they had been abandoned, but they were still a minority. The vast majority kept to their old routines, dressing in thick clothes and going to work. Minus 20 degrees was cold, but not as cold as a Northeast China winter. Workers kept going to work, students kept going to school, until... the first person froze to death. Then a second... a third... a fourth...]
