A Song for Those Who Return

Zhao Jie, a literature enthusiast, travels deep into the grasslands to conduct research. As he spends his days alongside the herders, he comes to understand just how difficult their lives are. Worse still, a contagious cattle disease spreads across the entire grassland. The herders’ struggle to survive fills him with anguish, but even more devastating are the different choices they make in the face of disaster. As a “guest” of the grassland, he ultimately chooses to share its hardships and fate. As the saying goes: “A painted scene may resemble the dream of returning home, yet a thousand miles of rivers and mountains fit within a few inches.”
