Focusing on the core topic of "family triangle", the basic principles and expansion of China's rural social organization were discussed, in which concepts such as "social succession" and "generational differences" that describe social metabolism have far-reaching influence. This book is Fei Xiaotong's early masterpiece and one of the most valued works in his life.

This book discusses the importance of the reproductive system in Chinese rural society in an easy-to-understand language. Mr. Fei Xiaotong's unique perspective gave me a new understanding of the relationship between family and society. This reminds me of "Hometown China", both of which provide in-depth analysis of China's grassroots society. I really like the concept of "social succession" in the book. It reminds me of the rise and fall of the Jia family in "A Dream of Red Mansions". Isn't this kind of family replacement a manifestation of social succession? All in all, this is a great book worth reading!
