So much time has passed since the summer of 2019, and interest in The Untamed has gradually waned. My editor doesn’t recommend writing more stories about it, but this is my obsession, born of love.
It’s strange, really. I genuinely don’t like xianxia dramas or this kind of story, yet here I am writing a continuation of one.
The last time I watched a drama like this was The Legend of the White Snake. I watched The Untamed with my cousin without knowing anything about it, barely paying attention. At the time, I thought, What is this? It’s not even good.
It turns out that the more ignorant I was then, the harder it was to catch up later. I went back and watched every scene I’d missed or skipped, frame by frame.
Once you fall down this rabbit hole, it goes deeper than the sea.
There are so many heartbreaking moments in the drama, and so much romance cut for censorship. Everyone wants a Lan Wangji, but who would dare to be Wei Wuxian?
