When Heaven and Earth first separated, spiritual energy surged everywhere and giant beasts roamed the land, leaving the people destitute and unable to live in peace.
Legend has it that a man once stood atop Wangchen Mountain with a sword in hand. He sacrificed his own flesh and blood to perform a ritual, drawing spiritual energy into his body. After slaying the giant beasts, he vanished without a trace, leaving behind only a fragmented scroll filled with methods of cultivation. His techniques were passed down through the ages, though only those with exceptional natural talent could cultivate them to perfection.
Two hundred years have passed through the cycles of spring and autumn. The past is like smoke.
Now, a Taoist temple stands on Wangchen Mountain, in the far north of the Eastern Wastelands. Snow and wind rage there year-round, and the temple’s residents rarely venture outside.
Shen Wushuang, the young master of Wangchen Mountain, was born a girl. Because of her unusual fate, the temple’s master took her in as a disciple when she was young and cast a spell on her, making her appear to others as a man.
At this time, tensions are brewing between the states of Ji and Liu in the Eastern Wastelands, and forces across the land are ready to make their move. Ordered to descend the mountain and travel to the state of Liu, Shen Wushuang encounters Jiang Shen, the senior disciple of Sword Saint Mountain, being hunted by assassins. She steps in to help out of kindness, only to be drawn by a “strange twist of fate” into a conspiracy. From then on, their destinies become inextricably linked…
It was all wrong from the very beginning.
Jiang Shen is the senior disciple of Sword Saint Mountain. She can die, but only for the people of the world, only for what is right. She absolutely cannot die just for Shen Wushuang.
Shen Wushuang is the young master of Wangchen Mountain. She should not be entangled in worldly affairs. She should not betray her fellow disciples, and above all, she should not fall in love.
…
“Shen Wushuang, if you dare to die, I swear I won’t look for you in the next life!”
“Jiang Shen, I… won’t have another life, ”
